Jakub Očić is a guitarist and musician inspired by the sound and atmosphere of Pink Floyd.
He started playing guitar at the age of nine after discovering Pink Floyd’s legendary PULSE concert film recorded at Earls Court in 1994. The expressive guitar playing of David Gilmour and the unique sound of the band had a strong influence on him and sparked his passion for music.
At the age of ten, Jakub stepped onto the stage for the first time, performing the famous solo from Another Brick in the Wall with a Pink Floyd tribute band in front of a live audience. This early experience strengthened his love for performing and live music.
Over the years, Jakub continued to develop his musical abilities as a largely self-taught musician. Besides the electric guitar, he also became interested in bass, keyboards, drums, lap steel guitar and sound design, which helped him better understand music and production.
Besides Pink Floyd, Jakub’s musical direction was also shaped by the music of Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree, as well as many other progressive and modern progressive rock bands. Their music deepened his passion for progressive rock, which remains his favourite genre.
He was also deeply inspired by Brit Floyd guitarists Damian Darlington and Edo Scordo, whose sound and playing style brought the music of Pink Floyd to life. For Jakub, seeing Brit Floyd was a special experience, as it allowed him to experience the music of Pink Floyd live in a way he otherwise would not have had the chance to.
In 2023, Jakub won the German music competition “Jugend musiziert” at the national level in his category, receiving recognition for his musical performance.
Jakub is the co-founder, lead guitarist and Musical Director of the Just Floyd Project, a band dedicated to celebrating the timeless music of Pink Floyd through powerful live performances.
At the age of seventeen, he received the opportunity to study at the Munich Guitar Institute and the Music Media School, where he is gaining experience not only as a musician but also in areas such as music production, sound engineering, event technology, media composition, video production, photography and music management.
He also has the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Music Production at the Triagon Academy, further developing his artistic and technical skills.
Alongside his work with Just Floyd Project, Jakub continues to grow as a musician and plans to create his own progressive music in the future.
